In my dreams: Bathroom storage

Bathroom via Design*Sponge

Thank you all for your sweet comments on the last post, they mean the world to me! We’ll have to wait until next week to know more what is going on with Muru, but I’m feeling a bit more optimistic today.

Then back some more regular blog stuff. I haven’t showed you many photos of our bathroom, but it’s tiny. There used to be a sauna in the same space with the shower. The kind of spa thingy we wanted, with sauna, a separate shower, clawfoot bathtub (ok, that was MY dream) and a dressing room would have been way over our budget. So we settled with separating the sauna from the shower with a smoke gray glass wall. Now there is enough space for both of them.

Bathroom storage

The only problem is, I find it difficult to find nice (and small) storage for the soaps and shampoos and stuff. They are still on the floor, which is not nice at all. So I’ve been bookmarking some beautiful bathroom storage solutions for inspiration and thought I’d share them with you too.

This cupboard would be too big for the bathroom, but I’d love to have something like this in the downstairs WC. It would fit perfectly under the sink. We actually found something similar at an antique fair, but it was from the late 19th century. We couldn’t bring ourselves to butcher something so old and well-preserved. Maybe if we found something a bit newer, or Panu could build it himself.

Do you have any good storage tips for small bathrooms?

Hienot kylpyhuoneet! Onneksi tuo on ihan kiva. Perusvalkoisilla kaakeleilla. Suihkukaappi on ruma, mutta sekin kestetään.

In our last apartment we used our WC (tiny) to store all our bathroom supplies. We put a high, wrap-around style shelf around the room and bought some simple white plastic storage containers from Ikea.

We had white walls, so the shelves and boxes blended in pretty well, were especially not-so-obvious b/c they were high up. There was also no shower in the half bath, so it was ideal for storing medicines, extra soap, and stuff like that.

In our LR we have a shelf with wicker baskets in it. I often think how they would also be nice in the bathroom (maybe with some felt on the bottom to stop scratches though!). Hope that helps!

Hi Jutta, First, all positive wishes for Muru. I understand how distressing that can be, especially when you don't know what it is.

As for your bathroom, my goodness, how fabulous to have an indoor sauna! I adore saunas so having one would be a fair trade for a small bathroom. I don't have any great ideas except wall mounted cabinets. Even shallow ones can hold lots of stuff.

Wishing you a great weekend ahead. xo

Sienet on tosi suloiset, viimeisteli kuvat :)

Juliette, our bathroom/sauna is in the basement so the ceilings are very low. So anything high up would be still eye-level for us. We are both quite tall :) But maybe something white against the white walls would be nice, then it wouldn't stand out as much.

Georgianna, thank you. After some googling I have my guesses what's going on with Muru. But of course I'm not a doctor, so we are going to have to wait a bit to know for sure.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Onko Hee-tuolit ollu susta hyvä hankinta? Ovatko ne pylly-ystävällisiä ja muutenkin mukavia istua? Arvostaisin vastausta kovasti. Sulla on nääs silmää, varmaan siis pepputuntumaakin.

i'm living in a tiny space with a tiny bathroom as well, so i don't have any suggestions (sad, i know) but all of your photos are inspiring ME, so thank you for that!
