Oh my, I am blown away by your great ideas on the light table post! Thank you!! My brain has been working full speed ever since. At first I was thinking about a screen of lower height with a sheer light fabric, like Juliette and Georgianna suggested. From Kirsi I got the idea that the fabric could be patterned, like wallpaper. But turns out that a screen with a fabric streched inside it is not so easy to build. Especially since I want to be able to change the fabric when I get tired of it (which is probably at least twice a year).
Not to worry. Pellon pientareella suggested I get a coat rack from Ikea to hang the fabric. The Ikea racks are inexpensive, but I’m afraid they wouldn’t last our dogs. We need something more sturdy. Last night I did some intensive googling but it seems that beautiful coat racks are difficult to find! You always see gorgeous interior shots with coat racks and assume you can buy them anywhere. Not true. However, I did manage to find one that is exactly what I had in mind. It’s a clothes rack made from hydraulic pipes by Seletti.
I also found a DIY project on Design*Sponge how to make one yourself. Now I can’t make up my mind what the fabric should be like. I did some Photoshop magic to test a few. There is the option of white, sheer fabric like in the top photo. It’s best for the light flowing in the room. But what about a strong statement like the pink Keisarinna fabric from Marimekko? I have been thinking I should simplify the living room, there’s so many colors. But how can I resist a bold, colorful fabric like that?
Or… One could always go with a more neutral palette…
What do you think?
